Caroline Showalter came full circle last fall, completing her student teaching at her former elementary school, Myers Elementary.

Ms. Caroline Showalter graduated from Bellwood-Antis in 2016 as a celebrated student athlete, and she continues to support her local community.

Upon graduation, Ms. Showalter continued her education in Psychology and exercise science at Mount Aloysius, where she also played softball and basketball. Later, she earned a degree in teaching.

Ms. Showalter now teaches at Tyrone Area Middle School as a long term sub, teaching math and science to 5th graders. She also is an assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach and varsity assistant softball coach at the school. During summers, Mrs. Showalter coaches a 12U softball team called the Tyrone Tornadoes.

One of Ms. Showalter’s biggest motivations to get into coaching and the fitness community was her pap, who coached basketball and fitness and passed away last year. She said her coaching allows her to teach others what her pap had taught her, as he was a big part of her career choices.

Most recently, Ms. Showalter worked as a student teacher at Bellwood-Antis at Myers Elementary.

Coming back to one’s old school could certainly be an interesting experience and that was true for Ms. Showalter.

“It was interesting that my old teachers became my friends, and my co-workers,” she said.

She also said how much has change she noticed in the district in the last six years since she’s graduated.

Ms. Showalter has set many goals for her future career, one of them being able to help others learn and make a positive impact on their lives. Another goal is to begin to teach and also work with athletes on the side.

Ms. Showalter, who was a member of the BluePrint staff in 2015-16, has a bright future ahead of her and we wish her luck on her future career.
