The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devil  basketball team continued moving forward in its home game against the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs on Friday.

The Blue Devils were masters over the Bulldogs with a 78-38 win.

The Blue Devils had three players in double figures. Junior Jake Burch and Sophomore Jarrett Tanneyhill both scored 16 points.  Junior Nathan Davis followed close behind them with 15 points.

“Friday was a pretty big win to keep our streak going,” said Burch. ”Coach told us that if we just played our game then the win would come easily.  We had fairly balanced scoring and we were able to shut them down defensively, and that really played into our hands.”

Sophomores Joey Padula and Ethan McGee also helped out the team.  Padula scored 9 and McGee scored 8.

The Blue Devils’ record is now 11-5.  Their ICC record is 8-1.

Friday night Bellwood-Antis also invited their two district championship basketball teams back for Alumni Night.  The two teams were honored at half time.

On the girls hardwood, it seems that Tyrone is not Bellwood-Antis’s only rival.

The Bellwood-Antis Lady Blue Devils battled their way to the top against the Bishop Guilfoyle Lady Marauders on Saturday, despite the negativity they were getting from some fans.

The Lady Blue Devils definitely believed they were going to win.  Their confidence level was at an all-time high and that seemed to motivate them to get their 69-60 victory over the Lady Marauders.

It was the 377th career victory for Coach Jim Swaney.

The Lady Blue Devils used a lot of teamwork in order to defeat the Lady Marauders.

Sophomore Karson Swogger led the team by scoring 21 points.  She got some help from senior Ana Hollen, who scored 18 points with six assists and two blocked shots.

Senior Kelly Leamer scored 11 of her 14 points in the first half of the game.

Bellwood was 9-for-23 on their 3-point range shots.

The Lady Blue Devils overall record is now 13-1.
