For the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils, consistency on offense has been a problem early on. Monday night, the boys basketball team hosted the Huntingdon Bearcats. The Blue Devils found success early on, but ultimately fell flat in the second half.
B-A went on to lose their third in a row 65-46.
B-A’s offense showed some promise early on. Jackson Dorminy registered 13 points on the night, and Martin Fatzinger added 12 more. The Blue Devils trailed by one with a little less than five seconds remaining in the half. Huntingdon’s Owen Alexander hit a buzzer beater three to amount to a 31-27 score going into the half.
“The first two games of the year we had struggled to make baskets. We had open shots but were struggling to get the ball through the net,” Coach Tyler Mertiff said. “We had more success getting shots to fall [tonight]. We are a young team with not a whole lot of experience, but I feel we took a step in the right direction.”
The Blue Devils offense came out cold in the third. B-A struggled to get their first points of the quarter until almost six minutes in. The Bearcats Elliot Guisler led the offense with 16 points. Alexander made three-three pointers and totaled 13 points.
Huntingdon ran away in the late minutes with plenty of offense. The Bearcat’s defense was also able to limit B-A to only 19 points in the second half finalizing the score at 65-46.
