The Bellwood-Antis track teams both got wins over Clearfield and Penns Valley on Tuesday in Spring Mills.
The Blue Devils won by a large margin against Penns Valley, with a final score of 98-43. The matchup against Clearfield was much closer, with the B-A boys winning 72-69.
The red hot Lady Blue Devils dominated against both opponents. The final score against Penns Valley was 94-47, and against Clearfield it was 92-49.
As would be expected, Bellwood-Antis had a lot of winners in the meet. Junior Jayce Quick placed first in shot put, with his throw of 44-8.50. Senior Cayden Pellegrine got first place in javelin, throwing a distance of 156-8. Pellegrine placed third in discus, with a throw of 106-11, and got second place in shot put, with 42-11.75.
On the girls side, freshman Ella Cherry continued a dominant rookie season, putting up numbers that rank among the best in the District. Cherry won the 100m dash and the 200m dash. She had a time of 13.0 in the 100m, and a 27.3 in the 200m. She also placed first in long jump and triple jump. Cherry won with her jump of 14-11.75 in long jump. In triple jump, she broke her own school record, which she had set last week, jumping a distance of 36-7.50.
Sophomore Julie Kraft placed first in the 3200m run. Kraft ran a time of 13:35.50. Sophomore Emma Taneyhill got first place in discus with a throw of 93-5. Taneyhill also placed first in javelin, throwing a distance of 81-2.
Both B-A teams had success in the relays. The boys and girls team each won the 1600m relay, and the boys won the 3200m relay.
The next meet for Bellwood-Antis is the B-A Invitational on Monday. The top two people in each event will be competing in this meet.
