The Lady Blue Devils have had a tough season, but they made the plays when it counted and earned themselves a District playoff spot as the #5 seed against Richland. The last time these 2 teams met back on the 1st of this month, Palynn Gregg terrorized the Richland batters in an 8-7 victory.
This game marked B-A’s second win in a row and the game was also played very similar to last time. Some may say it was almost a repeat, as B-A was led by the pitching of Palynn Gregg in the 11-8 victory.
The Lady Devils will now face Southern Huntingdon today in the District 6 2A semifinals.
In the first few innings Richland came out hot, scoring 3 in the first and 1 in the second. B-A attempted to answer back each inning but ultimately couldn’t find a spark until the fourth inning when they answered back with 2 runs of their own. Richland would come around to score 1 more and B-A would trail 5-2 heading into the 5th inning. The 5th inning would go scoreless; the 6th inning however is where B-A would find their biggest spark of the game scoring 6, now leading the Rams 8-5. The bottom of the 6th rolled around, and the Rams were able to answer back with 3 runs of their own to tie the game at 8. B-A knew going into the 7th inning they were going to have to put some runs on the board in order to come out victorious, so they went in calm, confident, and collected, then delivered 3 runs. The Rams fuse ran short, and they were unable to answer back causing B-A to come out with a W.
As stated earlier, B-A was led by the pitching of Sophomore Palynn Gregg. Ms. Gregg made a huge impact while pitching and hitting. On the mound she would give up a total of 8 runs, but only 3 of them would be earned. She would give up 6 hits in the showing, while also accumulating the same amount of strike outs with 6. Ms. Gregg has been the most successful and consistent pitcher for B-A this season, in her last 5 appearances on the mound, she hasn’t given up less than 6 strikeouts. Ms. Gregg would show her arm isn’t the only skill she has, as she would go 2-for-5 with 2 singles. She would also knock in an RBI from one of her singles.
Another player making a difference was Junior, Amrya Snyder. Ms. Snyder would go 3-for-5 with 3 singles. Although it was only contact at the plate for Snyder, it still produced in tremendous ways as Snyder would accumulate 3 RBI. She would also show off her speed a bit stealing a base.
B-A kept those Richland outfielders on their toes, as they finished the game with 11 hits. Easily outclassing the Rams poor batting, as they could only manage 6 hits.
B-A now has a winning rec0rd of 10-9, and they will look to keep that going as they travel to Orbisonia to take on the Lady Rockets at 2:00p.m.
