The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis Boys soccer team continued its hot streak on Thursday and pushed its record 4-0-0, defeating the Forest Hills Rangers (1-3-0) 3-1 in Sidman.
Tyrone sophomore Tytus Novak scored two goals, both of which were assisted by Bellwood-Antis junior Noah Gulvas. Tyrone junior Grant Miller added his first goal of the season.
“I couldn’t be happier to start the season 4-0,” stated Cameron Nelson, a junior at B-A. “That’s something our team has never done before. Even with a late away game in the rain, we came out strong and earned an important win.”
Tyrone led 1-0 at halftime before Miller extended the lead with a goal midway through the second half. Novak’s second goal, which came at the 18:53 mark, made it 3-0.
The Eagles have moved up to third in the Laurel Highlands behind Somerset (1) and Bedford (2).
Tyrone/B-A next plays on Tuesday at Hollidaysburg.
Lady Eagles Continue To Struggle
The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis girls’ soccer suffered a second loss last night to the Forest Hills Lady Rangers, away in Sidman.
In the first half the Rangers were only up by one., but they added a pair of goals in the second half. It was the second consecutive loss for the Tyrone/B-A team.
“We were missing a few key players, so we had to try to work around that,” said Tyrone’s Alice Knarr. “The biggest thing to take away from it is that we need to keep our heads up and remember that we’re a team. We lose together but we can also win together.”
