Bellwood-Antis is struggling with injuries and is looking to come back and get a win this Friday. The Blue Devils are set to play the Central Dragons at home after a hard fought game against the Huntington Bearcats on the road.
Both teams are going into this game with a record of 1-2. The Dragons are coming off a hard loss against Tyrone, 28-6. Central evenly distributes the ball between passing and rushing, having 82 passing attempts and tallying up 495 yards, and 81 rushing attempts for 404 yards.
Bellwood has been riddled by injuries to key players including quarterback Bradyn Partner and linemen Jayce Quick, Christian Jennings, and Collin Burroughs.
Bellwood is looking to get healthy and get a big win at home, while Central is looking to get consistent with its pass game and run game. The Dragons ran for only 86 yards last week after running for big yards in a win over Johnstown. Central will also look towards the passing game, testing B-A’s secondary. They will be limited in that area with a major injury of their own: quarterback Jesse Muthler was injured against Tyrone and is not expected to play, forcing running back Carter Schenk to take the sanps.
Both teams in need of a big game this Friday night to get back on track.
Going into this week, Alex McCartney leads the Blue Devils with 5 rushing touchdowns and 119.0 Rushing yards per game. On the other side of the ball Jeffery Waite, Colin Gibbons, and Alex McCartney all have 1 interception. Now for the Dragons on the other hand Carter Schenk with 4 touchdowns offensively leading the team. Both teams this week are on a possible backup quarterback situation in this challenging game.
“We been watching film, and I think we are ready this Friday,” said Junior Jackson Dorminy.
It’s a Laurel Highlands East Division I game, as well as Youth Night for the Blue Devils.
