On Friday, January 16, Bellwood-Antis Mini-Thon will be hosting a students vs. teachers basketball game. It will take place during seventh and eighth periods.
The game is being used as a fundraiser for Mini-Thon, which raises money for the Four Diamonds and the fight against childhood cancer.
The team entry fee is $10 per person, meaning teams with five players would pay $50.
There will be four teams representing the students, with one team playing per quarter, 7-minute quarters, and a 5-minute rest in between.
To go and watch the game seventh and eighth periods, students will pay $1 per person, which also will be donated to B-A Mini-Thon.
Students can also donate more money to purchase “power-ups” that will limit what the teachers will be able to do.
Also, each dollar students spend on the admission fee will make them eligible for Sheetz gift card.
The teacher team will include Mr. Hallahan, Mr. Barr, Mr. Wood, Mr. Partner, Mr. Elder, Mr. Bateman, Mr. Schmoke and Mr. Naylor.
Don’t count out the teachers just yet. Armed with experience, teamwork, and a few surprising skills, they’re looking to show that wisdom and a crafty jump shot can still compete with young legs. Rumor has it some teachers have been secretly practicing, determined not to let the students talk trash all year.
“I just think we are better in every athletic category. It shouldn’t be close,” stated senior Collin Matthews whom is participating along with Jonny Bickel, Logan Rodland, Eli Moser, Jayce Quick.
Will the students’ speed overpower the teachers, or will experience win the day? There’s only one way to find out.
