During last Fridays Bellwood-Antis Mini-Thon student vs. teacher basketball game, the teachers proved they still had a little of the old magic left when they blew the students out of the water with a score of 49-28.
But while the old veterans played tough over a 5-period game, it was the young guys who made the difference for the teachers.
Leading the teachers was Mr. McNaul’s student teacher Mr. Morbitio from Penn State, who pumped in 30 against the students.
The teacher led team said the atmosphere was great and a ton of energy and the place was “poppin.”
“I felt decent, once we got our legs under us,” SAID Said teacher Mr. Hallahan, who as Mini-Thon adviser also helped organize the event. “We settled in and got into a grove on both ends of the floor. we just took it to ’em””
Altogether the Bellwood-Antis Mini thon raised more than $600 for the Four Diamonds and the fight against childhood cancer.
To raise funds, students had to pay $1 to watch and pay for additional restrictions they could place on specific players. For example, in Game 1, senior Chug Jennings was forced to wear a blow-up costume for the second half.
“This was a lot of fun,” said teacher Kerry Naylor, who also played in the game. “I think we lucked out when they said members of the basketball team couldn’t play, but we’ll take it. And knowing how much money we raised for Mini-Thon makes it even better.”

The students were yappin’ all week long. The teachers knew they had to put them in their place. Feels good to have bragging rights for the remainder of the year.
