Sports Roundup: volleyball and XC teams have nice days

B-A had the top four place winners in yesterday’s cross country meet.

In a battle of one loss teams, the Lady Blue Devils’ volleyball team had a great night, derailing Claysburg-Kimmel in four sets.

B-A got off to a great start winning the first set 25-21. The scores switched the second set with Bellwood dropping their only set of the night 21-25. They then honed in their skills and fired away, winning the next two sets 25-23 and 25-18.

Sophie Damiano finished with seventeen service points and twenty-two kills. Abby Luensmann recorded an astounding thirty-five assists and Kamrynn Mercer at twelve blocks.

The boys’ and girls’ cross country teams had their 4th meet of the year yesterday against Juniata Valley.

The boys won, claiming their first win of the year with a score of 47-16. Corey George completed the 5k course in 19:47 to take the boys top spot. Following close behind were Tyler Hoover, Hayden McClellan and Jake Miller capturing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in their respected order. The boys are now 1-3 on the year.

The girls lost, to even their record at 2-2, by a score of 35-21. Stephanie Mills was the only top three girls finisher for Bellwood, finishing with a time 24:38.
