Big Man on Campus: Jaqueline Finn

Junior Softball Star Balances Sports and Grades

Jaqueline Finn will start her senior season just one hit shy of 100 for her career.

Junior softball standout Jaqueline Finn is this week’s “Big Man on Campus.”

With a GPA above 4.0 and a batting average of .453, Jaqueline can balance being a First-Team ICC All Star and an honors student.

“My grades are very important to me, so I always get my school work done,” said Finn.

Saige McElwain, one of the only two freshmen on theLady Blue Devils’ roster said, “Jaqueline is an amazing teammate.  She knows how to cheer anyone up no matter what and knows the game really well.”

Finishing the season 18-3-1, the Lady Devils have been making a huge statement the last few years.

“When I was younger, Bellwood softball was a joke.  Now, we’re making a name for ourselves,” said Finn.

Jaqueline developed her skills through hard work and off-season dedication after dropping other varsity sports to focus on her favorite.

“I started going to CORE in the fall, which helped me to get quicker and stronger. Dropping basketball also gave me more time to prepare in the offseason,” said Finn.

Jaqueline is excited for the team to make another run for the District 6 championship next spring.

Going into her senior season with 99 hits, Jaqueline will be the second person in Bellwood-Antis softball history to reach  100 hits.

“I’m excited to achieve such a big milestone.  I’m also excited to have a good idea of where I want to go to college so I can apply early,” she said.
