The Bellwood-Antis girls basketball team split a pair of games this week to hike its record to 6-3.

Wednesday night, the Lady Blue Devils traveled to Bald Eagle Area looking to avenge their loss to Williamsburg from the night before. Bellwood came out on top by a big margin with the final score of 60-33.

Bellwood led 17-7 after the first quarter and didn’t slow down in the second, adding another 16.

The Lady Blue Devils had a 33-14 lead at halftime.

Bellwood continued their scoring in the third quarter with 20 more points.

Lily Gerwert and Leigha Clapper led the team with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Gerwert, who is putting together a great season so far, averaging 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, also had 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Lady Blue Devils held onto their big lead and didn’t force anything in the fourth.

Lainey Quick added 8 points, 7 assists and 5 steals.

B-A improved to 5-1 in the LHAC.

The team will travel to Chestnut Ridge this Friday and try to pick up their second win of the week.

Lady Devils fall to Williamsburg

The Lady Blue Devils hosted Williamsburg on Tuesday evening in a non-conference game that has become a rivalry game for the two schools. The Lady Pirates came out on top in this meeting by a score of 61-35.

The Lady Blue Devils trailed 13-10 after the first quarter of action.

The second quarter was where Williamsburg got their big lead, outscoring Bellwood 24-1.

Bellwood was led in scoring by Chloe Hammond with 8 points and followed by Lily Gerwert and Marissa Cacciotti with 7 points each.

The Lady Blue Devils put together a competitive second half, playing even with the Lady Pirates all the way. However, the second quarter run by Williamsburg was too much for Bellwood to come back from.
