Myers first grade teacher Mrs. Coleman is adjusting well to the new changes that have come her way after shifting from her position on the second grade team.
Mrs. Coleman attended Penn State University for her bachelors degree in education and then St. Francis University, where she obtained her masters in education. She is also a Bellwood-Antis alum, having graduated in 1992.
The first year in a new position has been a bit challenging for her, despite the many years of experience she has. But like the seasoned veteran she is, she has adapted and continued to push her students forward.
Mrs. Coleman said the best thing about her job to her is 100% the kids and coworkers. She enjoys the excitement for learning her students have, and she enjoys trying to find fun ways to learn and engage for her students. She said her coworkers are the most amazing and dedicated group of educators to her and she is blessed to be able to call them her friends.
While she has enjoyed a lengthy career at Myers, there are still some things people may not know about For example, balloons terrify her, she doesn’t like pumpkin pie, and she was once interviewed to be on the television show “Big Brother”.
Mrs. Coleman lives in Tyrone, and she and her husband Tom, who teaches physical education at TAHS, have two sons.
Overall Mrs.Coleman is an amazing teacher who wishes only the best for her students and coworkers and is doing very well in her new position.
