On Monday night, the Lady Blue Devils hosted the Huntingdon Bearcats for Senior Night. The seniors that were recognized were Leigha Clapper, Addy Turek, Hannah Waite, and Jenna Norton.
Bellwood-Antis ended up losing this game, with a final score of 53-42. Clapper ended the game with 11 points, including her two three-pointers, while junior Lily Gerwert also had a solid performance with 13 points.
For Huntingdon, senior guard Lily Fiscus had a remarkable 25 points, which greatly helped the Bearcats get the win.
The Lady Devils trailed most of the way, down by a basket after the first quarter and behind by 5 at halftime.
B-A now has an overall record of 9-11 this season and ranked fourth in the District 6 2A playoff race. Huntingdon improved to 8-9 and sitting at No. 6 in 3A, where only the top 5 teams advance.
There are only two games left in the regular season for Bellwood-Antis. Their next game will be against Philipsburg-Osceola at home. The last matchup between these teams was much earlier in the season, and B-A won by a wide margin.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, B-A’s seniors were still thrilled to receive recognition for their career achievements.
“I felt honored and proud that I’ve made it this long in the program,” senior Waite said. “It’s made me the person I am today.” Waite had a season-high of seven points in this game.
The game against P-O will be played on Thursday. It will start at 7:30.
