Three years after the debut of the first Barbie doll in 1958, which was 56 years ago Monday, Barbie’s boyfriend, Ken Carson, made his appearance.

If you’re a fan of Barbie there is no doubt that you know about her on again off again love, Ken.

If you had a Barbie, chances are you had a Ken to drive her around in her little pink Beetle (or convertible) too. Beach vacations, summer getaways, ski trips in the mountains, these two are perfect for each other.

Ken is America’s typical man (to some that is controversial) and the go-to when it comes to the complete doll family.

And just like Barbie has her real life version, Ken does too. Justin Jedlica (here’s what he looks like) is the worlds’ life size Ken doll.

Unlike his female counterpart, Justin has had many (many many) surgeries to give himself the perfect physique. From his face to his abs, nothing is left untouched.

Do you think Ken is even worth the time though? Why do you need him? All’s he does is take up room for Barbie’s clothes, right?
