This is the moment Lily Burns has been waiting for since middle school, her chance to fully shine.
Lily is a sophomore who has participated in chorus since fifth grade and the school musicals since seventh grade because her big sister was the lead role in Grease.
This year’s play is Little Shop of Horrors, and Lily is taking on the lead female role of Audrey. She is the youngest member of the cast who has a major role.
Lily is this week’s Artist of the Week.
“I am most excited to be on the stage doing what I love and what I am so passionate about,” Burns said. “I think Audrey is such a deep and vulnerable character, so I am excited to show my versatility!”
Alongside her this year is Collin Matthews, playing the other lead role of Seymour.
“I am very excited to work with Collin because he is very talented and we are going to put on a great show,” she said.
Collin also had a few words to say about her. “She is one of the younger people on the show. She is very talented and I am very excited to work with her.”
Music is not a stranger to her or her family, and it is easy to take inspiration from those around her.
“I grew up in a very musical house,” Lily said. “My whole family inspires me, but mostly I would say my mom and my step mom who is also the director of the plays!”
Congratulations Lily, and we can’t wait to see you achieve your goals!
