This week’s artist of the week is junior Jayden Maines.
Maines has been doing art since she was only three years old. She prefers to paint out of any other art form.
Her favorite piece she ever made was the chalk pastel landscape that serves as the feature image for this story.
Maines’ family is extremely artsy and her and her grandmother used to paint together, which originally led her to start making art.
After high school Maines said she has no plans to peruse anything more with art. Instead, she may choose to work on some pieces in her free time. She does plan to attend college and major in education to one day become a history or an English teacher.
Maines doesn’t only make physical art pieces but also musical art, playing the flute for the Bellwood-Antis band. In fact, she attended county band at Tyrone Area High School this week.
Maines said she the art department at B-A has been very influential on her.
“Our schools music and art department is amazing due to the educators that run it. Every form of art teacher in this school whom I have met has been so supportive and truly let me grow as an artist,” she said.
Maines best friend Julie Kraft recognized her beyond school or artwork.
”Jayden is a very great person who is always very kind towards everyone and is always there in tough times,” Kraft said.
