This week’s Just Junior is none other than Mr. Jonathan Bickel
This past week at the PIAA District 6 JV race, Jonathan gave it everything he had and it showed. After putting in months of hard work and dedication, he crossed the finish line in first place. When asked about his big win, Jonny said he’s “happy that all his hard work has paid off,” and it’s easy to see why.
Jonny has been running cross-country for three years, and he’s also been part of the track team for the same amount of time. Running has become a big part of his life, and he’s even thinking about continuing it in college. Although he’s “unsure” right now, his love for the sport is clear in everything he does.
But Jonny isn’t just about running he’s also very involved in the Bellwood-Antis community. He’s part of FCA, Mini-THON, Renaissance, and Spanish Club, showing that he values both athletics and being active in school life.
When asked what his favorite part of being a BA student is, Jon didn’t hesitate. He said it’s the “atmosphere” and the “closeness of the community.” Those who know him would say that sense of connection and support is something he helps create himself — always encouraging others and setting an example with his positive attitude.
Fellow junior Hayden Mountz had some kind words to share about Jon. “ ” That consistency has clearly paid off, both on and off the course.
Looking ahead, Jonny plans to attend college and is interested in pursuing a career in sports training or physical therapy two paths that fit perfectly with his passion for fitness, perseverance, and helping others succeed.
Jonny Bickel is a great example of what hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude can achieve. Congrats, Jonny, on being this week’s Just Junior!
