If you ever need a travel guide, Bellwood-Antis junior Giuliana Gummo is your gal.
Over the years, she has visited many exotic areas in the western hemisphere and even gone on an excursion to Europe.
Gummo has traveled to a variety of states, such as Hawaii and Alaska. She’s traveled across the North American continent, going to Mexico and Canada. She has even been to different continents traveling to Italy, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. Gummo said the next place on her bucket list is London.
Gummo is this week’s spotlight student for Just Juniors.
Gummo is quite active within the school district participating in Spanish Club, Renaissance Club, Minthon and a member of the National Honor Society.
She also plays volleyball for the Lady Devils and is a three-year letterer.
The Lady Devils won only four games in 2025, but Gummo still has high hopes for her senior season. She was asked for her goals for this oncoming season.
“I hope me and the girls can continue building our bond and bounce back from last season,” she said.
Gummo said her favorite volleyball memory so far was beating Tyrone in the Backyard Brawl sophomore year.
Outside of school Gummo is active, focusing primarily on health and fitness. She can be found frequently attending Pilates, spin classes and going for runs every now and then.
One of Giuliana’s best friends, classmate Olivia McCloskey, has known Gummo since the two were classmates at Myers Elementary School. She had nothing but nice things to say about her longtime friend.
“Giuliana has been one of my best friends since second grade,” McCloskey said. “She is a very caring and very responsible person. She is extremely kind and will always have a special place in my heart.”
Gummo said her favorite class is math, and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Stinson.
While senior year is only several months away, Gummo is enjoying her junior year and making the most of each moment.
