Despite losing head coach Kyley Longo-McGarvey, who had stepped away form the program earlier in the day, the Lady Blue Devils remained focused and registered their second win over Central in the last two weeks, winning 65-52 last night at the Bellwood-Antis High School gymnasium.
Lady Devils defeat Lady Dragons
Senior Lilly Gerwert led all scorers with 32 points and added 18 rebounds, leading B-A along with senior Marissa Cacciotti who scored 12, and sophomore Izzy Sloey who had 13.
The Lady Devils led 25-5 early on and despite a few challenges cruised to the win much easier than their 46-43 victory last month in the Fred B. Miller Holiday Tournament.
Gerwert helped the Lady Devils hold off every Central rally.
“I was pleased,” said said interim coach Lindsey Conlon. “We stayed poised. I thought they were positive even when they made mistakes. I thought we made some changes when they made runs that switched the game our direction.”
Former Head Coach Jim Swaney will be the Lady Devils head coach for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. He coached at B-A from 2009 through 2023 and led the Lady Devils to two state championships back-to-back in 2018 and 2019.
Their next game will be January 9, away at Bishop Guilfoyle.
