The Bellwood-Antis softball team started the season with a 10-0 triumph over the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties Tuesday in Bellwood.

The team came out strong, scoring 4 runs in the second inning and adding another 4 runs in the fourth. They finished it off with 2 more runs in the fifth while shutting out the hard-hitting Mounties.

Junior Palynn Gregg got the start for B-A. She struck out five in four innings while freshman Laney Stinson came in for one inning to fan one.

“It felt good to go out there and get the first win of the season. I trusted myself and let my team back me up. It was definitely a good feeling to start things off like that,” Gregg stated.

The girls out hit the Mounties 9-4 in the win.

Sophomore Karlie Sweigert drove in three runs while Gregg and Parker Martin added two for themselves.

Hayden Taylor and Martin each had two hits.

“Personally, I was happy to contribute to the win. We have been working really hard on our hitting, so I was proud of how many hits we had as a team to,” Taylor said.

The girls next game is tonight when they will play at Juniata Valley.
