The Bellwood-Antis wrestling team got its first victory last night by winning against Mount Union for the first time in decades. They got the win in the Bellwood-Antis Middle School with a score of 39-37.

“It was a great win for the team. A total team effort. We’ve been stressing getting pins and not getting pinned in order to win dual meets and that happened last night,” Coach Tim Andrekovich said.

B-A got five pins, including falls from Trentin Whaley, 285, Aiden Taylor, 152, Alex Taylor, 160, Tyler McCaulsky,  132, and Landon Bungo, 195.

Landon Bungo’s pin at 195 sealed the win and guaranteed the victory for the Blue Devils.

“Getting pins from Tyler and Landon were key. Those were the toss-up matches and we won both of them. Trentin is a reliable pin, Aiden and Alex are going to win a lot of catches and Ty is always entertaining.”

The Devils take the mat next on Thursday at Moshannon Valley.
