Three students from Bellwood-Antis have recently signed to play college sports. Those students are Sophia Nelson, Ethan Brown, and Hunter Shawley.

Sophia is going to Penn State Altoona for kinesiology and signed for soccer, Ethan is going to Juniata College for mathematics and data science and signed for golf, and Hunter is going to Thaddeus Stevens for carpentry technology and signed for track & field.

Sofia chose Penn State Altoona because the campus felt like home as well as for their soccer and kinesiology programs. She is hoping that she will improve as a player and gain new friendships while at college.

Sofia is excited that she will be able to get the benefits of  big school education with a small school experience.

Ethan chose Juniata College because the campus is inclusive and he likes the team and coaches. He plans to play for the golf team and would like to individually win at least one overall match throughout his career.

“I’m very excited. Not many people get this opportunity and I have always loved sports. This is a surreal dream come true, and it is at such a prestigious school as well,” says Ethan.

Hunter says that he is very excited and that he has been looking forward to this for a long time. He chose Thaddeus Stevens to run track and field after a lot of praying, thinking and visiting three different schools.

Hunter, who medaled at the PIAA championships last year in the  300 hurdles, already has several goals for his college career. goals He said he would like to break records, become an All-American, and strive to be the best hurdler on the team.
