Lady Devils win in blowout over P-O

Junior Leigha Clapper hit double figures twice last week in wins over Huntingdon and Philipsburg-Osceola.

Friday night, the Lady Blue Devils hosted Philipsburg-Osceola. Bellwood continues their hot streak, beating Philipsburg by 49, and extend their win streak to 3.

The girls were dominant right form the jump, outscoring P-O 24-3 in just the first quarter, and went into halftime up 39-7.

Bellwood’s defense didn’t let up the rest of the game. they didn’t allow Philipsburg to score their next point until the fourth quarter.

Sophomore, Lilly Gerwert had a career night. Scoring 25 points on 12-of-16 shooting. She also recorded 6 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 blocks. Sophomore, Marissa Cacciotti had 13 points and junior, Leigha Clapper had 11 to round out the scorers in double figures.

With the win, the girl’s record is now 3-1 and on a 3-game winning streak.

Wednesday night, the Lady Blue Devil’s defeated the Huntingdon Lady Bearcats 56-25.

After going into halftime with a score of 27-17, Bellwood was looking to come out of halftime and put the Bearcats away. The Lady Devil’s did just that, outscoring Huntingdon 15-1 in the third quarter and 14-8 in the fourth.

The player of the game was sophomore, Lilly Gerwert, as she finished the game with a double-double, putting up 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Juniors Leigha Clapper and Jenna Norton also each added 10 points of their own.

Their next game is on Friday, when they host the 2-4 Penns Valley Rams.
