Boy’s basketball suffers loss against Central

Wednesday, the Blue Devils lost to the Central Dragons 54-25. Central executed their defensive gameplan and got enough offense to win by a big margin. Bellwood dropped to 4-11 with the loss.

Bellwood scored the first points of the game, which would be the last time B-A was in the lead. Central responded with a 7-0 run that was stopped by a Chance Schreier three.

Chance Schreier led the Blue Devils with 8 points in a rough offensive performance for Bellwood as a whole.

Central kept up the pace scoring seven more points in the 1st quarter and not allowing Bellwood to score any.

The Dragons held B-A scoreless in the 2nd quarter and Central continued their scoring barrage with 16 points. Central ended the first half on a 23-0 run that started with three minutes left in the 1st quarter.

Central came out of the locker room still on fire, outscoring Bellwood 18-12 in the 3rd quarter. The Dragons led 48-17 at the end of the period and the mercy rule came into effect.

Both teams subbed in their bench’s to play in the 4th quarter. The Blue Devils were able to win the period 8-6, but came up short losing by 29.

Bellwood hosts Bishop Guilfoyle on Friday night. The Marauders are 11-2 and will be a tough match-up for B-A.
