The Bellwood-Antis cross country team ran at the Altoona Invitational last Saturday at Logan Valley Elementary School located in Altoona and both team did not disappoint, producing multiple PR’s and medal winners
The boys placed 11th out of 17 and the girls team placed 6th out of 14. The course had a rough up-hill but a great down hill.
Senior Martin Fatzinger had another top 30 placement, finishing 30th out of 148 runners with a time of 18:36 and grabbing another medal. Rounding out the top 7 for B-A was Bryce Hollenbach (18:51), Dom Halerz (19:51), Hunter Shura (20:41), Luke Gurekovich (20:55), Johnny Bickel (21:45) and Braylon Litzinger (22:25).
Fatzinger wasn’t the only boy runner with a top finish. Seniors Lucas Fulmer and Collin Matthews placed within the top 20 of the JV race, and junior Kirk Keen also placed high in the top of the race.
Matthews placed 19th, Keen placed 16th and Fulmer placed 13th all grabbing medals themselves.
“it was great,” commented Senior Lucas Fulmer. “I’m happy that me and 2 other of my teammates got medals during the race.”
On the girls side of the team. Junior Blake Pennington also had herself a top 30 finish, finishing 18th with a time of 21:36 and also earning a medal.
Pennington wasn’t the only girl to earn a medal this weekend. Junior Julie Kraft also placed within the top 30, placing 21st with a time of 21:48. Rounding out the top 7 for the girls Peyton Hammond (23:15), Ava Franks (25:21), Sara Kraft (25:33), Chloe Stoltzfus (26:06) and Karley Dickinson (27:11).
“There was a lot of really good competition,” Kraft stated, ” my coaches and teammates really pushed me this race.”
