After Dropping three straight losses, (Somerset, Bald Eagle, Bellefonte) the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis boys soccer team won its game against Cambria Heights 3-2 on Saturday morning in Tyrone.
Bellwood-Antis’ junior Cameron Nelson game-tying goal in the second half before Tyrone’s’ junior Tytus Novak scored the game-winner. Novak also assisted on Nelson’s goal.
Tyrone Junior Grant Miller also scored for the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis soccer team.
The Golden Eagles had trailed at halftime 2-1.
The boys are now 9-4 and ranked No. 3 in District 6 3A. They play today at Penns Valley before travelling to Huntingdon Wednesday.
Girls win again
The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis girls soccer team had its first winning streak of the season after defeating Bald Eagle Area 3-0 last Tuesday. It was the first time the team won back-to-back games.
Going into halftime the Lady Eagles led 2-0, their first goal scored by Tyrone sophomore Kadence Berry in the first 30 seconds of the game.
Later Bellwood-Antis sophomore Maya Plummer scored the second goal. To start the second half, Plummer scored their third goal to seal the game.
“I’m so proud of our team,” stated Bellwood Senior Marissa Cacciotti. “We’ve Really stepped up and have been playing together! I think we’re improving with each game and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.”
The Lady Eagles ended the week on a down note, falling to Bellefonte 5-2 before dropping a weekend game against Cambria Heights 3-0.
The team now sits at 3-8.
