The Bellwood-Antis baseball team cruised to its fifth straight win yesterday with a 12-2 drubbing Moshannon Valley.

During their current winning streak, the Blue Devils have allowed only six runs and have won twice by mercy rule.

We feel that we can keep it going, and that it gives us momentum going into the playoffs.

“We have really stepped up our defense and the intensity to get better,” said junior Jordan McCracken. “It has dramatically changed from making four or five errors a game at the beginning of the season to one or two every three games.”

Joey Padula and Jordan McCracken each had two hits with three RBI’s.

Jack Showalter had two hits as well, with two RBI’s.

The game was only 6-2 heading into the top of the fifth, but Bellwood caught fire with six runs in the frame. It shut out Mo Valley in the bottom half and 10-run-ruled the Black Knights in five innings.

With the victory, Bellwood is well on its way to a district appearance and possibly another deep run. Its record is now 11-6 on the year.

“We feel great about (the winning streak),” McCracken said. “We feel that we can keep it going, and that it gives us momentum going into the playoffs.”

Bellwood’s next game will be held on Monday, May 9th, against Claysburg.
