After going through a two-game skid two weeks ago, the Bellwood-Antis baseball team has won two straight on a pair of hard fought games over the last 10 days.
The first game was away on April 2 against the Williamsburg Pirates, when the Devils were able to outlast the Pirates 6-3. Sophomore Landon Sneath went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI’s, and juniors Alex McCartney and Chase Plummer both went 2-4 on the plate.
Sophomore Killian Worthing was also able to deliver a solid pitching performance, pitching a perfect game and only allowing 3 runs on 7 hits
Last Wednesday, against Clearfield, the Devils were able to battle to a strong 6-4 victory.
The bats were on fire, with Cam Swogger and Jackson Dorminy producing 2 hits and Chase and Caleb Plummer having 1 hit a piece.
Once again on the mound Killian Worthing earned the win, pitching a strong five-and-a-half innings and allowing just 2 runs.
The Devils are the up and up heading into the middle of the season. They will travel to Tyrone on Monday.
Lady Devil softball falls to Clearfield
Bellwood-Antis fell victim to Clearfield and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost to the Lady Bison by a score of 2-0. Having soared 12 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils’ shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Bellwood-Antis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was London McKee, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Bellwood-Antis dropped to 4-2 with the loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Clearfield, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The Lady Devils rebounded to shutout Penn Cambria on Friday, winning 15 behind a 4-inning perfect game pitched by freshman Laney Stinson. B-A also got a home run from Palynn Gregg. We’ll have complete details of that game later this week.
Coming up, the Lady Devils will head out on the road to face off against Penn Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
